LOCAL SPOTLIGHT: THE SODAMIX
Moon Valley native, Tyler, and his wife Ashley, are owners of the sodamix located at the northeast corner of 7th Street and Bell. Opened in October 2021, the sodamix offers delicious cookies and “sodamixes” and the store has quickly become a staple for an after school treat, a special celebration, or just a sweet tooth destination for the community. So what is a sodamix? Inspired by and named after popular movies or television shows, sodamixes contain fun syrups, fresh juices, flavored creamers, and of course, soda!
Tyler grew up in Moon Valley, attending the Moon Valley trifecta of Lookout Mountain, Mountain Sky, and graduated from Thunderbird High School in 2009. Tyler met his wife and co-owner, Ashley in Argentina while both were serving a mission for their church in 2011. Both Tyler and Ashley attended BYU-Idaho where they fell in love and married in 2013.
Tyler originally started a successful pest control company combining his passion for sales, working with people, and crunching numbers. But one fateful day while living in Utah, Tyler visited a soda store near their home and it became an almost daily occurrence. Combined with their penchant for ordering cookies on the weekends from different cookie stores, Ashley and Tyler recognized there may be something here. A few years later, Tyler had the opportunity to sell his Pest control business in Utah, and the pair decided to move back closer to their Moon Valley home and start a business that they were a little more passionate about...cookies and mixed sodas!
the sodamix: Family Friendly Cookie Store
Tyler and Ashley have three boys: Tucker (age 7), Henry (age 2) and Charlie, (9 months). The boys love going to the store to “help out” by taste testing new cookies and coming up with new drink flavors! Ashley noted how much they have loved getting to know the community better as they welcome new customers to the store. “The Moon Valley community has been so supportive, which is huge for a family business like ours.” Ashley notes that it’s a great mix of regular customers as well as newcomers trying it out for the first time.
Here at Locality Homes we can vouch for the quality products the sodamix offers. Our personal favorites are snagging a s’mores cookie (Jackie) and a Talladega Nights soda (Richard) after one of our heated tennis matches. If you have not visited their store, we highly recommend trying it out, and if you see Tyler or Ashley, tell them Locality Homes sent you!
